Clan Forsyth Queensland Annual Dinner
IN keeping with the time-honoured traditions of their Scottish forebears, the members of the Clan Forsyth of Australia Qld branch gather together each year to share stories, learn more about the history of the Clan, update the new additions to the Clan and celebrate the lives of those who have passed on.
Central to the night's celebrations is the Piping in of the Haggis, often presided over by the Chieftain of the Clan or his representative from the Clan Forsyth Australia Society in Sydney.
The Fassifern Valley, with its many links to Ipswich, Boonah, the Lockyer Valley, Monto and Darling Downs holds a special place in the Clan's Qld history.
It was to Peak Crossing that six Forsyth brothers migrated from Donegal in Ireland over 150 years ago to seek out a prosperous and healthy life in Australia.
The districts have been the richer for the contributions made in the pioneering days and through all the years and which continue today in the Forsyth name.
This year's event will be held on Saturday April 11 at the Harrisville Hall.
The 2015 theme is the Forsyth Anzac Legacy. Special Anzac displays, quizzes and decorations will be part of the evening.
Scottish Country dancing and live music are always a highlight.
