Classy outing for the ladies

TO celebrate the first time the Water Rats have played an A-grade match at home since 2005, the Warwick and District Rugby Union Club will hold a ladies’ day on Saturday.

President Justin Wynn said women would have free entry to the festivities at Risdon Oval and there would also be champagne and strawberries and cream available.

The Water Rats will take on 2009 A and B-grade premiers, the Goondiwindi Emus, from 1.30pm Saturday.

The main A-grade match will be at 3pm and Mr Wynn is hopeful a big crowd will turn out to support the boys in what he expects to be a tough but exciting clash with the Goondiwindi Emus.

“The boys have been training really hard the past few weeks and it would be great if the town could turn out and support them in their first home game back in the A-grade competition,” he said.

“We are aiming to be competitive this year and provide the people of Warwick with a place they can watch and play quality rugby union."

The bar and canteen will be open.

General admission is $6, with funds raised going back to the club.
