Cliff hanger in Warwick club cricket
CRICKET: Allora school teacher Ben McClure has scored his first century in Condamine Cup cricket but it wasn't enough for his Railway Hotel Rascals team to win the local derby at Allora
Batting first, Allora made 6-238, Gavan Scheiwe top scoring with 67 and Will Ole making 49.
Brad Johnson was the best of the Rascals bowlers with 3-27 off five overs.
Rascals lost an early wicket before McClure, who scored 105, and Joe Morris, 36, rescued the innings with a second-wicket partnership.
Jon Millard chimed in with 47 but the bowling of Stewart Henderson who took 3-20 off eight overs helped restrict Rascals to 8-235, four short of a win.
Wheatvale win
WHEATVALE proved they are definitely second favourites for the A-grade competition with a nine-wicket win against Rosewool Redbacks.
Batting first, Redbacks made 167, Coen Slatter hitting 48, including eight fours, Dave Drewery 32 run out and Luke Costello 28.
Steve Jones was the best of the Wheatvale bowlers with 4-44 off eight overs.
Opener Brendan Malone then hit 13 fours in an unbeaten 73 to steer Wheatvale to victory with a score of 1-171.
Carter Bilbrough hit 51 not out and Colin O'Brien was out for 36, including six fours.
Gordon century
JOE Gordon hit his first century in Condamine Cup cricket when he scored 110 in the Maryvale Condamine 78-run win against Warwick Hotel Colts at Slade Park on Saturday.
It was the first century in any form of cricket for the 16-year-old student at Assumption.
Gordon went in to bat at No.4 and rated the cover drive as his best shot.
"I was hitting them pretty well, Cameron Peterson was the hardest bowler to get away,” he said.
Batting first in a 40-over game, Maryvale made 6-264 with Andrew Ryan offering best support to Gordon with 76.
Colts were dismissed for 186, Cam Peterson returning to town from the Gold Coast to hit 93.
Kevin Bourke was the best of the Maryvale bowlers with 4-28 off eight overs.
