CLOSED: Roads that will be shut for the baton relay
TRAFFIC will be disrupted on Thursday as the Queen's Baton Relay moves through Warwick.
When driving to school or work, residents will need to be aware of road closures in order to pass safely through town.
Road closures will occur between 4am to 11am with roads opening shortly after the relay passes through.
Most streets will have at least one lane open, allowing traffic to move easily with diversions in place.
The convoy will start at Warwick East State School at 9.08am.
It will move up Fitzroy St to Palmerin St, before turning right. The convoy will continue along Palmerin St, through Leslie Park and then continue on Palmerin St to Victoria St.
Batonbearers will then turn left on Victoria St and left again on Guy St.
The convoy will continue to turn left onto Fitzroy St, then turn right onto Palmerin St.
It will move up to Percy St and turn right, then turn right again on Guy St, before driving out of town.
A couple of roads will be completely closed to traffic, these include:
- Palmerin St between Fitzroy and Percy Sts, Albert St between Guy and Palmerin Sts and a section of Fitzroy St near East State Primary School
- The intersection at Albion and Fitzroy Streets will be completely closed to traffic for approximately 20-30 minutes around 9am
Access to carparks will still be available, including access to the Town Hall carpark (access via Albion St), Rose City Shoppingworld carpark (access via Guy and Grafton Sts) and the Target carpark (access from Grafton St).
