Club members get 38 medals at meet

THE Warwick Swimming Club had seven members compete at the Darling Downs Regional Swimming Association regional finals at Toowoomba's Milne Bay swimming complex this month.

The competition doubled as the Country Championships, which were due to be held in Dalby in January but were postponed due to the floods.

This meant the first three placegetters from the country areas plus the first three placegetters from the whole DDRSA region would receive medallions and points towards the awards.

All seven members did the Warwick club proud with some gutsy swims to record personal bests.

There was lots to celebrate at the completion of the two-day event, with the seven swimmers from the club bagging a total of 38 medals.

Dimity Brackin swam a time of 30.50 seconds in the 12 years girls 50m freestyle, eclipsing the old time of 30.77 and setting a new country championship record.

Some club swimmers still have Darling Downs representative team commitments at the state finals in April but are joining the rest of the club at Wet N Wild for the club break-up day in late March.
