Coach happy despite Wolves loss in premier men's grade
FOOTBALL: Warwick Wolves coach Mick Willmot might have watched his team go down 1-0 to Willowburn on Saturday night but he was upbeat about the play of the team.
In the early game, Warwick went down to Gatton in the women's match.
"We had two shots at goal hit the crossbar, we had many chances to score but it was an excellent performance,” Willmot said.
"The goal by Willowburn was from a scramble in front of goal.
"Goalie Alek Ebneter and Johnny Enosa up front were our best but it was hard to fault any player and I was much happier with their performances than a week earlier.”
Willmot will coach the South West juniors at a week-long championships in Mackay so will miss the Sunday clash against Wanderers in Warwick and then a night home game on Saturday week against Rockville.
"We will need to win five of our last six games and hope other results go our way to make the top four.”
Rob Davey will run this week's training in place of Willmot.
In the early game on Saturday night at Queens Park, the Warwick Wolves women went down to Gatton.
Warwick player Ben Lyons will be a key player in the Willmot coached South West under-15 team in Mackay later this week.
