UPDATE: A SMALL 2.5 magnitude earthquake rumbled near Macksville this morning.

It was the first of today after it was reportedly felt at 3.19am.

Four other minor earthquakes hit near Macksville yesterday following the 4.2 magnitude quake off Nambucca Heads.

There have been 23 earthquakes around the Coffs Coast - including Dorrigo, Bellingen, Nambucca Heads and Macksville - since last Saturday.

ORIGINAL: COFFS Harbour was shaken by the biggest earthquake yet after a swarm hit the region in the past few days.

A 4.2 magnitude was reported off Nambucca Heads at 1.28pm.
 

It is the biggest to have hit Australia in the past few days.

People have reached out to social media, saying they felt the shake in Sawtell, Boambee East, Toormina and Bonville.
