Coffs Harbour man on murder charge refused bail
A COFFS Harbour man has been refused bail on a charge of murdering Peter Martyn of Port Macquarie.
Chad Misiepo, 33, was on parole for other offences when he allegedly stabbed Mr Martyn on New Year's Day. A five-day manhunt ended with his arrest at Toormina on Tuesday.
Police allege Mr Misiepo tried to run from police before he was apprehended on Sawtell Rd. A crime scene was also established at a home at Boambee East.
Mr Misiepo was formally refused bail in Bellingen Local Court on Wednesday morning. He will front court again at a later date.
On Tuesday night, Detective Inspector Steve Clarke said officers from the Mid North Coast and Coffs/Clarence commands had worked closely together to track Mr Misiepo and should be congratulated on a "great team effort".
