Collegians U8s star at Suncorp
THE boys from the Collegians under eight side all thought they were NRL stars in the making after a game on the hallowed turf at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.
Collegians played a team from Nambour at half-time. A grandson of former Warwick residents Dan and Carmel Skehan played for the Nambour team.
While scores aren't recorded in half-time games, coach Kev Bradfield was happy to report his side scored one try and kept its opposition tryless.
"The 12 boys in the game all thought they were famous after playing in front of a near capacity crowd," Bradfield said.
"They had seats for the Broncos/Manly game near the tunnel where Buck the horse runs out after each Broncos try.
"The boys were in the tunnel mingling with the Gold Coast Titans players who played the late game against Bulldogs.
"Wally Lewis walked past and the boys shared high fives with the King."
Teams from Collegians and Eastern Suburbs juniors have an opportunity every year or two to play at Suncorp.
Bradfield said Titans half Scott Prince was one of the favourites of the Collegians boys.
After a long night in Brisbane, the Dragons U8 side travelled to Millmerran to play on Saturday and performed well against a Millwood combination.
