Colour to fill the convent for centenary
THE INAUGURAL Art in the Convent will bring a touch of culture to the Allora community, with a night of fine art, wine and antipasto.
Four dedicated volunteers have been busy organising the show, which will feature more than 50 pieces including photographs, sculptures and paintings by artists from across the Southern Downs.
The show, which is part of the centenary celebrations for St Patrick’s School, will also exhibit art pieces made by students.
Organiser Anita Wright said the art show would open on Saturday, March 12, with a cultural evening.
“For $20 per person, the wine and cheese opening will start at 6.30pm and includes live music, a commemorative wine glass and a rustic themed, antipasto grazing station designed by Felicity Philp,” she said.
“Those attending the night will also be able to vote for the people’s choice category.”
The art show will open again for families on the Sunday, with entry of a gold coin donation.
Tickets are available from St Patrick’s School, Allora Post Office and St Mary’s School, Warwick.
