Colts fail to score

LAIDLEY scored a goal late in the first half from a corner kick to defeat the Warwick Wolves 1-0 in Colts football at Laidley on Friday night.

The two teams started the round on even points, but Laidley used their home-ground advantage, playing a long game suited to the fast, dry ground conditions.

Warwick had some good chances with both Chris Leach and Ethan Cussen being stopped by last touch efforts from the Laidley goalkeeper.

The Wolves have not been able to find the single goal needed to turn the games around in the last few fixtures, however the effort has been excellent.

They now have three more rounds to secure a finals spot and will need to find the net to make the play-offs.

Cody McKavanagh made some great saves in goal and Mitch Siebenhausen and Martin Johnson worked hard in the midfield.

Matthew Carey, coming back from injury, is showing improvement each week and signs of his excellent early season form.

Warwick plays Highfields at West Wanderers Field 2 on Friday night.
