Colts win the battle for second in Warwick cricket
CRICKET: Adam Byrne proved the difference between the two sides as Warwick Hotel Colts won the battle for second place against Wheatvale in Condamine Cup cricket on Saturday.
Batting first, Colts made 9-184 with Byrne not out on 81. James Breen was the best of the Wheatvale bowlers with three wickets while Chris Malone, Craig Smith and Carter Bilbrough took two each.
Two teenagers stole the show for Wheatvale with the top two scores but it wasn't enough and the defending premiers were dismissed for 160.
Lachlan Boal made 51 and Jared Fearby 31 as Wheatvale's younger brigade shone.
Cameron Peterson took four wickets and another of the younger brigade, Jacob Gross, two wickets in the Colts win.
There will be T20 cricket on Saturday and two representative games against Lockyer on Sunday.
