COME A-CAROLLING: Magical memories at Carols in the Park

IF YOU’RE on the hunt for a one-stop shop of Christmas cheer this weekend, the Warwick Carols in the Park is the way to go.

The event is known for its end-of-year celebrations, but the 2019 festivities are also bringing a new tradition to the carols.

Instead of being held at Leslie Park, this year the event will see families pack into Queens Park.

Councillor Yve Stocks said the decision came after an increase in attendees.

“There will be plenty of parking, and it’s a much bigger area so we can encourage more people to come,” she said.

“Also it’s likely to be a hot day, so it’ll be a lot cooler down there near the river.”

While the venue may have changed, the most beloved parts of the evening will remain, including the comeback of longstanding musical director Erin Hilton.

“It’s a happy family occasion. A chance to sing along to carols and enjoy a nice night out,” Cr Stocks said.

“Christmas is not far away now. This will get everyone in the festive mood.”

Carols in the Park will run from 5-8pm Sunday at Queens Park.

Entry is free.
