COME ON WARWICK: Stanthorpe starts an arty Facebook battle
WARWICK Art Gallery needs your help.
This week, friends of the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery put the call out on Facebook to overtake Warwick Art Gallery in the Facebook likes department, which they did and have now streaked ahead.
The Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery Facebook page now sits more than 100 likes in front.
With about three times the population of Stanthorpe, and an outstanding art gallery worthy of keeping up-to-date with, Warwick needs to pick up the ball and make a match of this.
Find Warwick Art Gallery on Facebook and give them a like.
It seems there's a little friendly cross-town competition going on here.
In Stanthorpe, they're in it to win it.
Gallery director Mary Findlay said Stanthorpe had streaked ahead and would not be caught.
"We're throwing down the gauntlet to you Warwick,” she said.
"The people of Stanthorpe have really got behind us and now it's up to you to do the same.”
Clearly with this is all in the name of some friendly regional banter, Ms Findlay said the Stanthorpe and Warwick galleries were in the process of building a stronger support system between the two organisations.
"This healthy competition is a great way of engaging as many people as possible with their local galleries,” she said.
"It's all about celebrating art in the community and if this gets more people engaging with their gallery then I'm all for it.”
Warwick Art Gallery director Karina Devine said the Warwick Art Gallery would appreciate all the Facebook love it could muster.
"We actually recently had a digital health check by Southern Queensland Country Tourism,” she said.
"We scored really well on Facebook, but we need to pick up out TripAdvisor game.
"So when you're jumping on Facebook to give our page a like, head over to Trip Advisor and leave a review for us as well.”
Ms Devine said social media was an important tool for the gallery.
"We'd be lost without it,” she said.
"It takes a lot of work but it's crucial in this day and age.
"We'd love all the followers we can get, Facebook is a great way to keep up with the gallery and all the amazing exhibitions we put on every year.
"Facebook likes are great but do yourself a favour and pop into the gallery to see for yourself.”
