COMMENT: Win for our CBD

THE purchase of Skehan's Menswear is the shot in the arm that the Warwick CBD needed.

The 81-year-old business was sold recently to a local purchaser keen to keep tradition alive and the popular store trading.

Times have been tough in Warwick's retail heart for too long now.

Many retailers have struggled for years while others have simply found the going too tough and closed down.

Some blame economic conditions, others the impact of Rose City Shoppingworld and some the allure of major centres like Toowoomba, Ipswich and Brisbane.

It is only going to get tougher too when the redevelopment of Rose City Shoppingworld opens.

But news of Skehan's Menswear's sale will provide much-needed confidence for those who have put their faith in Warwick's CBD.
