Community rallies for Cowboys after vandal attack
THE Warwick Cowboys volunteers have become good at picking themselves up and dusting themselves off after being knocked down.
Following the vandalism of their clubhouse less than two weeks ago, the Cowboys have been overwhelmed with the response from the community.
The club has received numerous donations and offers of help, according to president Mary-Anne Loudon.
"We've had an overwhelming response and lots of offers of help from tradesmen in town," she said.
Among the donors were Supafloats owners Geraldine and Terry Dwan, who donated $1000 to the club.
Mrs Dwan said her son David played for the Cowboys under-18s.
"We know how hard it is to keep money in the club. Terry was president at the Collegians for a number of years," she said.
"Our son David gets a lot out of playing for the club."
Mrs Dwan acknowledged the hard work of the Cowboys volunteers.
"Everyone that is running the Cowboys is a volunteer," she said.
"The Cowboys wouldn't exist without those volunteers.
"We just wanted to help them out - to keep the Cowboys going."
A fundraising auction is continuing online until the weekend, with a Cowboys Driza-Bone and jersey up for grabs.
Mrs Loudon said there were a number of ways people could show their support for the Cowboys.
"The more support we have at our home games, the more income the club gets," she said.
The Cowboys will host the Valleys at Father Ranger Oval on Sunday, with A-Grade kick-off at 3pm.
