Group to help plan power line

STAKEHOLDERS concerned about the proposed 110kV Ergon Energy power line will have the chance to be a part of a community reference group to consider the best route options for the line.

The last public meeting held about the power line to run between Stanthorpe and Warwick was facilitated by Member for Southern Downs Lawrence Springborg and resulted in heated discussion and walkouts.

Mr Springborg said John Dengate - a facilitator brought in by Ergon Energy to help with community consultation - would hold drop-in information sessions across the region next month to try to move forward with creating a community reference panel.

"It gives the option for people to go along there and discuss the formation of the (community reference) group," Mr Springborg said.

The Absolute War Against Radiated Emissions (AWARE) Group will meet to discuss the power line this Sunday, and while he encouraged people to talk about the issue publicly Mr Springborg said the way forward was through official means.

The information sessions will run on May 1, 2 and 4 at the Dalveen Hall, Warwick Town Hall and Stanthorpe Civic Centre, respectively, from 4-8pm.
