Community stands up for special Warwick boy

GARDENS Galore was packed with community group members this morning as they celebrated their latest funding project.

The Rotary Club of Warwick Sunrise organised with The Rotary Club of Warwick, Warwick Lions Club, Rotoract and Warwick  CWA to raise funds to help a five-year-old student from Warwick East State  School.

Together the groups raised $4608 for the purchase of a special activity chair for the student who suffers cerebral palsy.

Head of East State School's Special Education Department Tracey Mekitarian said she was overwhelmed over how helpful the groups had  been.

She said the special chair would greatly help the child's learning.

"When he arrived at aged four, he had to be carried from room to room," she said.

"This will help with his posture and make his overall learning easier."
