MY SAY: Community unites to support bereaved
There is a lot of sadness across the region today, as our community mourns the death of two people taken too soon.
Scots PGC is preparing to farewell a boarding student, who passed away suddenly on Sunday.
Although the girl had only been a member of the school community for a short time, she was embraced by her teachers and peers.
Those same people, her friends, will today say their final goodbyes, so soon after she had entered their lives.
The Sandy Creek community is also grieving the loss of Ivy Little, who sadly passed away a week after she was involved in a terrible collision with two B-doubles.
Friends have spoken of their sadness for Ivy's passing and their concern for her son Gary, who was also injured in the collision.
While it is never pleasant to deal with the death of somebody we know, our responses to such tragedies speak volumes about the calibre of people in our community.
The fact we embrace and reach out to those going through dark times is another indicator of the greatness of our region.
The staff at the Daily News extends our thoughts and wishes to those affected by these tragedies.
