Rally for Allison Baden-Clay in Yeppoon

VIDEO: Community wants justice for Allison Baden-Clay

AS a mother, Sylvia Belot's heart breaks for the children of Allison Baden-Clay.

Allison has been in the headlines since her husband's murder charge was appealed and downgraded to manslaughter.

Gerard Baden-Clay had been found guilty of the murder of his wife on July 15, 2014.

Just over a year later and the entire nation is demanding for justice to be done after his successful appeal.

Yeppoon's Sylvia Belot was part of a rally yesterday seeking justice for the murdered mother-of-three.

"We've been following the case for some time and would love to think that the 'just' was put back into justice," Sylvia said.

"As a mum and grandma, my heart goes out for that situation, there's no closure. Justice hasn't been done."

Sylvia was one of 50 people at the rally.

Rally organiser and Livingstone Shire Councillor Glenda Mather said the rally was to show Allison's family how much they care.

"When the appeal went through I thought 'oh my god no'. Personally I could see the justice system slipping through the cracks," Cr Mather said.

"We can't sit by and do nothing. I understand the law is a complex creature, they need evidence to prove the appeal was wrong."

Cr Mather will write to the Attorney General to see if she has the power to appeal the downgraded conviction or to push for the maximum sentence of 25 years.
