Cooler weather on Sunday is no guide to the future

WHILE cloud cover has resulted in slightly lower temperatures on Sunday, the warm weather of the past few days will continue into next week on the Southern Downs.

For those wanting rain, there is little good news in the next week.

Meteorogist James Thompson from the Bureau of Meteorolog in Brisbane said while the cloud cover cooled things down on Sunday, it would remain warm for the foreseeable future.

"It will cool down a little closer to next weekend with cloud cover and the chance of showers,” he said.

The temperature in Warwick reached 35 degrees on Friday, 32 degrees Saturday and 31.3 degrees on Sunday.

At Stanthorpe, the temperature reached 32.7 degrees on Friday, 29.9 on Saturday and 26 at nearby Applethorpe on Sunday.

Temperatures are tipped to be 35 degrees in Warwick and 31 in Stanthorpe on Monday and then Warwick will reach 37 degrees and Stanthorpe 33 on Tuesday.

Warwick is forecast to be 34 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, 33 on Friday and 32 at the weekend.

In Stanthorpe, it is tipped to be 31 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, 29 on Friday and Saturday and 28 on Sunday.
