Cooler weather on the forecast

THE worst of the hot weather is over for the Granite Belt, with temperatures dropping back to average said meteorologist from the Bureau of Meteorology Lauren Pattie.

While tomorrow is still expected to reach a high of 34°C, Ms Pattie said temperatures will be returning to normal from Sunday.

"(Temperatures) will be dropping back to the 27 or 28°C mark on Sunday,” she said.

While residents will be enjoying the cooler weather they may want to pack an umbrella if heading out, with a system moving over the south-east expected to bring showers.

Showers are more likely on Sunday, with the chance of thunderstorms.

The wet weather is expected to clear heading into next week, with cooler temperatures forecast to stick around.
