Crime spree accused refused bail for range of charges
UPDATE 3:45PM: Three people have been refused bail over a botched robbery in which a senior police officer was allegedly struck by the getaway car.
Police will allege Cooroy officer-in-charge Sergeant Mal Scott had foiled a break-in at the local Mitre 10 hardware store early Monday when he was hit by a car while attempting to arrest one of the offenders.
One man was arrested in Gympie on Wednesday while subsequent raids across the region netted four further co-accused.
Harley James Grambower, 23 is charged with more than 30 offences including serious assault of a police officer, possession of firearms, possession of dangerous drugs and a number of stealing and driving related charges.
His alleged accomplice Ashley David Percy Will Leis, 25, is charged with 10 driving, drug and property related offences.
Another man, Joe Daniel Johnson, 21, is charged with possessing explosives and disqualified driving.
He and Deception Bay woman Caitlin Carmel Pratt, 26, are also charged over an unrelated robbery at a Chevallum service station which is still under investigation.
All four appeared via phone link in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Friday and were remanded in custody until February 25.
Another woman, 28, is also charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle in relation to the Cooroy incident and will appear in Gympie Magistrates Court on January 23.
EARLIER: Robbery, arson and stealing are among the charges laid against a group of people arrested for a crime spree spanning the Sunshine Coast and Gympie areas.
A police chase in which a number of vehicles were damaged in Gympie in Wednesday as well as a break-in which resulted in a Cooroy police officer being struck by a car were among the offences for which people have been charged.
A man was arrested after Wednesday afternoon's police chase in Gympie.
Detectives then raided a number of properties in the Gympie area which resulted in a number of other people being taken into custody.
As a result of the operation, police seized two rifles and cash as well as a large amount of allegedly stolen property including a motorcycle, drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Five people have been charged.

A 28-year-old Gympie woman has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to appear in Gympie Magistrates Court on January 23.
A 21-year-old Gympie man has been charged with one count each of robbery in company, unlawful use of a motor vehicle driving without a licence and is due to appear in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Friday.
A 22-year-old Gympie man has also been charged with three minor drug offences.
EARLIER: Police have arrested six people for a crime spree which included a bungled break-in which ended in a Cooroy policeman being hit by a ute.
Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Daren Edwards said arrests were made in Gympie on Wednesday and at another location on Thursday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Edwards said at least four of those arrested would have their matters mentioned in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Friday.
A series of crimes, including robberies and break-ins sparked a large search by police.
Cooroy police officer-in-charge Sergeant Mal Scott was injured when crushed between two vehicles after he interrupted a break-in at Sunshine Mitre 10 early on Monday morning.
Det Snr Sgt Edwards said about 50 charges had been laid.
