Corellas flock to racetrack
A THICK white cloud of corellas has been making its way around Warwick leaving a trail of destruction in its path.
The tell-tale flock of screeching birds is back again and is feeding on the sorghum crop in the centre of Allman Park Racecourse.
Racetrack crop owner and farmer Ross Shepherd said the corella infestation is nothing unusual.
"Every year at the race course there is a corella problem but they have never really caused a problem or done any damage until this year," Mr Shepherd said.
"I expect that over the next few weeks they will do more damage before I begin harvesting.
"Obviously it just means a loss at a tough time but I don't expect it will be significant at this stage.
"My problem is that I have no way to get rid of the birds. I can't shoot them and I can't use a scare gun in town."
