Council decides on Sunday trading in Warwick

BREAKING: Warwick and Stanthorpe residents may no longer have to go outside the region for Sunday shopping.

Southern Downs Regional Council has approved an application by the National Retail Association to allow major retailers such as Woolworths and Target to operate between 9am and 6pm in Warwick and Stanthorpe.

Councillor Neil Meiklejohn said previous councils had knocked back applications that had only applied to extend trading hours in Warwick, but welcomed changes for both centres.

He said the move would be of enormous economic benefit to the region.
