Country fashion dream almost reality for two Warwick women

THE competition to find the new face of Western Soul Australia may be a national affair, but that hasn't stopped two of Warwick's biggest country fashionistas landing themselves a real shot at taking the title.

Both Sophie Rose Amos and Carney Belle Turner were announced among the top five finalists last night.

Western Soul Australia is all about living and breathing country wear and style, but when people think cowboys and cowgirls, they think about dust and dirt, not lipstick and colour.

"Just because you're out on the horses working with the boys, it doesn't mean you have to look like them," Miss Amos said.

"I quite often go for the colourful shirts and the lipstick, because I like to look my best."

With the possibility of becoming the face of one of her favourite brands, Miss Amos said she was thrilled.

"It's been very exciting since the finalists were announced," she said.

"This isn't any old company, they bring the best country wear to Australia and not only that, they are passionate about working within the community and making a difference to people who need it.

"They've shown a real passion to getting behind certain causes and that's what important to me, I don't want to sit around doing nothing."

The winner of the competition will feature in Western Soul advertising campaigns and on social media platforms, as well as being an advocate for western and country wear.

Warwick hairdresser Carney Belle Turner has some experience when it comes to working with brands.

Through her instagram account Miss Turner has modelled and promoted for several boutique brands and this weekend will model for Gidgee Eyewear.

"I'm really excited for the announcement on Friday," she said.

"I've got my game face on and will be trying to promote Western Soul as much as I can until then, and show them I'm the right one for the job."

Miss Turner said she took her fashion seriously.

"Occasionally I'll get some looks for my fashion style, but you've just got to embrace it," she said.

"I was always taught to dress to a high standard, make a good first impression and I think the opportunity to be the face of Western Soul would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience."
