Country talent back for more

WHEN festival goers left her property last year she could hardly wait to have them back again.

The caravans began arriving back for this weekend's second annual Bony Mountain Music Festival and organiser Norma O'Hara-Murphy, who hosts the event on her property, could not be happier.

"I want families to come out and experience the bush," she said.

"I'm trying to present some great Aussie talent as well as promote some of our best songwriters and there are a lot of them around."

Ms O'Hara-Murphy was inspired to hold the festival by a friend in New South Wales and said she wanted to make the event as community focused as possible.

"The Southern Downs is one of the most wonderful places in Australia and if you can draw people in they will see for themselves," she said.

"One thing which is special about the event is it's a very community-orientated festival and we want people to have an unforgettable experience and weekend.

"There is something special about inviting people onto your property and last year when everyone left we were devastated and couldn't wait to get them back."

The one and only Pixie Jenkins will present his talents for his full two-hour show, along with Dean Perrett and others - tomorrow will be a fantastic family day with young pirates, treasure hunt, The Wuppies, a 10-strong ukulele band and Wheatvale State School.

Tomorrow night has a songwriter concert and will kick off with Irish dancers and an Irish band - and special guest international singer songwriter Allan Caswell. Graham Rodger will also perform, along with O'Hara Murphy.

There is plenty of parking and a shuttle bus available.
