UPDATE: A couple was lucky to be alive after a horrific crash at Aubigny, west of Toowoomba, at the weekend.

The couple in their 70s were driving a Nissan Pathfinder four-wheel drive which flipped after a collision with a Nissan Navara utility on Saturday about 1pm.

The man and woman had been travelling west along Toowoomba - Cecil Plains Rd when the crash occurred

A witness first on the scene said they pulled over to see the male driver of the ute covered in blood.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Service arrived on scene at 1.20pm and used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the occupants of the four-wheel drive.

"It was a relatively easy extrication however the damage sustained by collision made in necessary to use hydraulic cutting tools to get them out," Oakey QFES captain Rodney Mason said.

"It appears the crash has been a t-bone affect which has caused one of the cars to roll over."

The man and woman were airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in a stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

The male driver of the ute was transported to St Vincent's Hospital in Toowoomba in a stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
