Police say thousands of drug deals found on woman's phone

A COUPLE on a combined 20 drug-related charges, including trafficking methamphetamine, will re-appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court in February after their bail applications were granted on Monday.

Jason Matthew Blair Campbell, 29, and Charlene Bridget Grey, 28, both appeared from behind custody glass in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Monday.

Campbell appeared on 18 charges including seven counts of supplying dangerous drugs, two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property and possessing shortened firearms on dates between February and December, while Grey appeared on two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs on dates between August and November.

The couple were charged following a Rockhampton Criminal Investigation Branch operation.

Police prosecutor Manon Barwick told the court both Campbell and Grey's bail was opposed on the grounds they were an unacceptable risk of committing further offences.

She said both Campbell and Grey were on bail for previous offences at the time the fresh offences were committed.

"They are very serious drug and weapon-related offences," Ms Barwick said.

"It should be of a concern to the community that such weapons are involved when it comes to drug-related offending."

Ms Barwick said "a significant amount of cash", $8000, formed part of one of Campbell's charges while police found "several thousand text messages police identified as drug-related transactions" on Grey's mobile phone.

Defence barrister Dennis Lynch, who represented both Grey and Campbell, said a jet ski found in Campbell's yard was involved in another one of the offences. "It is too early to be able to sort the chaff from the wheat," he said.

"(Grey) was a party to the trafficking in the sense that she was a courier."

It was submitted that Grey and Campbell should not have contact as part of their bail conditions.

The pair will appear again on February 24.
