Course to challenge riders
IT will be all action at the Warwick Horse Trials Club this weekend at Morgan Park with the three-day Equestrian Queensland CIC three-star event finishing up tomorrow.
One person who will be wandering around the action with keen interest is Sylvia Roberts, the course designer for the international event.
Roberts has designed eventing courses for more than 10 years at Warwick, but this is her first international three-star course.
The course will incorporate a number of hand-crafted jumps, in the shape of animals. Roberts said she had made parts of the course slightly easier to allow for the slight lack of fitness horses sometimes experience at this time of year.
This weekend’s event is earmarked to develop towards the reintroduction of a premier international three-day event in Queensland in 2011, a competition not seen in Queensland since 2007 when the equine influenza outbreak shattered the equestrian community.
With the on-course action set to be adrenaline-charged, spectators looking for unique entertainment and a great day out are also welcome.
Adults entry is $10 a day or $20 for a three-day pass. Children under 16 years free.
