Court stops work on building site

WORK will halt at a Warwick building site because of the involvement of Mladen (Michael) Kljaic, who managed the MKM Group - which collapsed last year - after the Building Services Authority (BSA) was granted an injunction at the Supreme Court.

BSA general manager  Ian Jennings said the entities involved in the project are now prevented from conducting building work and from 'counselling, procuring or aiding any person to carry out building work at 9 Natalia Crt at the St George Springs development at Yangan Rd.

He said Mr Kljaic, gave an undertaking to the court that he would not carry out building work at the site.

Mr Kljaic is a permanently excluded individual by the BSA but, he retains a site supervisor licence which allows him to supervise the performance of building work while employed by a licensed builder.

Mr Jennings encouraged anyone with information that Mr Kljaic was acting as an influential person in a building entity to contact the BSA's Compliance area on 1300 272 272.

Mr Jennings said the BSA would now seek permanent injunctions at the site and at other sites controlled by the entities, and to start appropriate action regarding the companies' licences.

The entities are Pera (Qld) Pty Ltd, H.I.C. International Constructions Pty Ltd, Homes Industrial and Civil Pty Ltd, and QState Civil and Drainage Pty Ltd.

Mr Jennings said H.I.C. International Constructions Pty Ltd and Homes Industrial and Civil Pty Ltd had surrendered their BSA Builder licences, while QState Civil and Drainage Pty Ltd had never held a licence.
