Cowboys aim to win second-division flag

RUGBY LEAGUE: Warwick Cowboys captain-coach Scott Fisher is aiming to play in his first senior premiership winning team this season.

Saturday at 2pm, Fisher will lead his second-division side on to the senior field at Glenholme Park, Toowoomba, for the major semi final against Gatton.

Both teams have won games in head-to-head clashes this season.

Fisher said he was confident of winning this weekend and qualifying for the grand final in a fortnight.

"The key is playing with confidence with the team we have,” he said.

"Five-eighth Coedie Tandy, centre Jeb Jerome and second rower Dion Galloway are three of the key players.

"Gatton always has quick play-the-balls so we will have to be solid in defence.”

The Cowboys have been boosted with the return of star rodeo rider Brock Eastwell, who was in America competing in rodeos in the middle of the season.

"We can play Brock at hooker, halfback or fullback, he is just a good all rounder,” Fisher said.

He has been with the Cowboys since 2010 and is close to playing his 200th game.

"We made the second-division grand final in 2015 and I am determined to win a grand final this season.

"My older brothers, Adam and Shaun, are both keen to play next year but I want the premiership this season.

"I expect good support at the semis in Toowoomba: We always get good crowd support.”

Fisher is keen to win this week then have a fortnight off before the grand final.

"Gatton has been the toughest all season and are really smart with the ball in hand,” he said.

Stanthorpe and Pittsworth will play in the minor semi final in second division at the junior ground at Glenholme Park at 2pm Saturday. The loser in this game will be eliminated.
