Warwick Cowboys break-in: two boys charged
TWO male teenagers, aged 14 and 15, have been charged after allegedly breaking into the Queens Park clubhouse last month.
The two boys appeared in Warwick Children's court yesterday after being charged with breaking and entering and wilful damage.
One was refused bail and will remain in custody.
The second boy was given bail and will appear in children's court at a later date.
A third boy was given a caution.
The damage bill came to more than $3000 and wasn't covered by the club's insurance.
It's alleged the boys ripped fire extinguishers off the walls and sprayed them throughout the clubhouse.
Warwick Cowboys president Mary-Anne Loudon said the vandals had tried to punch holes in the roof and wall in an attempt to gain access to the bar.
Mrs Loudon described the damage as "confronting" and "upsetting".
"The Warwick Cowboys clubhouse has a lot of sentimental value for players, club members and the town," she said.
Mrs Loudon had praised the efforts of club members and police in securing and cleaning up the scene.
"The police have done a great job.
"They do patrols of the park."
Anybody who may have witnessed the crime is encouraged to phone the Warwick Police on 46604444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
