Cowboys down top Gatton players
RUGBY LEAGUE: The Warwick Cowboys took out a win in A-grade against the Gatton Hawks in a tight match at Father Ranger Oval yesterday.
The Cowboys ended up on top in a home game clincher that ended with them just two points ahead 32-30.
Cowboys coach and captain Matthew Gainey said they had expected a close match against a team which played in the Madsen Rasmussen final at the end of the first round for the top-two sides in the competition.
"I was expecting it to be that close and we could have lost because it was quite a hard game but a win's a win and I'm happy with it," Gainey said.
"The win pushes us back up the table and we have a bye next week."
The Cowboys next home game is in three weeks against Valleys
Craig Donn was sensational at fullback for the Cowboys with Justin Croft again played well.
The McIvor Brothers, Jesse and Ryan, also impressed for the winners.
Gainey said the A-grade side would have just one training run this week due to the bye but he promised the one run would be really hard.
