Cowboys gearing up for grand final clash
RUGBY LEAGUE: Warwick Cowboys fans have the chance in the next three days to organise a team shirt for the grand final.
Warwick beat Valleys 26-24 last Sunday in the major semi-final to qualify for the September 8 TRL grand final in A grade.
The team is going for its first A-grade premiership win since 1988.
Warwick was admitted to the Toowoomba Rugby League in 1986 and has won A-grade premierships in 1987 and 1988, lost grand finals in 1999 and 2016 and now can make it three wins in five grand finals if they beat the winner of Wattles and Valleys in the season decider.
The club has already produced shirts to mark their success in making the grand final.
The shirts have Cowboys on the front, 19 for 2019 on the back and in smaller print on the 19, the words "grand final”.
Hooker Ben Sullivan said there was a lot of interest in the Cowboys first grand final appearance for three seasons.
"We want fans to wear their Cowboys shirts around town and to the game on Sunday week at Clive Berghofer Stadium. He was happy with the training run on Tuesday night when the players had more of a recovery session after a hard game against Valleys on the Sunday night.
Sullivan's girlfriend Stephanie McConnell owns Misty, a showjumping horse, and admits she has become a Cowboys fan since meeting Sullivan.
"Ben is pretty quiet before a game, they have worked hard all year,” she said. "We want a massive Warwick crowd at the grand final and the boys to play well.”
Cowboys shirts can be ordered up to Monday by calling Mark Sullivan on 0419615964.
