Cowboys mistakes costly

THE Cowboys once again proved to be their own worst enemy at the weekend. After carving out an 18-point lead during the first half, they went into the shed 18-12.

If not for a dropped ball, the scores could have been even at half-time.

The second half again saw Pittsworth score two soft ties, and the Cowboys made far too many mistakes to be any kind of threat.

Coach Gary Lawrence said the boys had tried, but just couldn't get ahead.

"Pittsworth were just too good on the night," Lawrence said.

Player points went to Waka Hiraiti, 3, Mick O'Keefe, 2, and Scott Bears, 1.

Trent Achilles made two tries on the night and Jimmy Olsen one.

The boys went home with a 32-18 loss.

In reserve grade, the score was not much better, with a 32-14 loss to Warwick.

But the Cowboys had something to celebrate as the under 18s won 30-26 with five different players making the six tries.

The Cowboys go up against Oakey, in Oakey, this weekend.
