Cowboys saddle up to repel champs

THE Warwick Cowboys are keen to make up for lost time when they host reigning premiers Gatton Hawks at Father Ranger Oval tomorrow.

After taking one point from last Saturday night's match against Souths, due to a cancellation after 12 light bulbs blew, the Cowboys know they need to get back in the winner's circle to keep their finals spot.

"We've got some tough games to come and with Valleys and Oakey right behind us, we could lose our finals spot if we drop a game or two," Bradfield said.

"We must keep winning."

The Cowboys come up against a Gatton side that has lost their last two games and Bradfield said he was cautious of the Hawks coming out fired up.

"We know they'll be out for a win," he said.

"Rather than thinking they're in poor form, I'm worried that they'll be ready to go and will come out fired up."

While the cancellation against Souths was a disappointment, Bradfield said there was a silver lining.

"It probably wasn't that bad in retrospect," Bradfield said.

"We have a few blokes with niggling injuries and a couple of guys coming back from injury.

"It's given all of them an extra week to get themselves right."

Bradfield said his forwards would need to stand up against their opposites.

"They've got a massive pack," he said.

"We've got to control their forwards.

"That's an area we've been working on."
