Cowboys to select 22

WARWICK Cowboys A-grade coach Gary Lawrence will name his team at training tonight for the clash with Aspley at Father Ranger Oval at 7.30pm Saturday.

“We will be selecting 16 players for A-grade and six players after reserve grade to sit on the A-grade bench,” Lawrence said.

“The signing this week of centre Bob Nicholls is great news for the club. He has been training well for the past three weeks and will bring experience to the side.

“Bob has set some goals for himself this season and is looking forward to the challenge.

“It is great news to get a former player back to the club.”

Outside back Zac Pauli is training with the Cowboys and will play on Saturday if his clearance comes through from the Ipswich Jets.

Lawrence said Pauli would be a good recruit with youth and pace.

“There will be fierce competition for spots in the outside backs, with new recruits Scott Kerridge, Bob and Zac, when he gets a clearance, adding a lot of depth.

“The McIvor brothers, Ryan and Jesse, are both vying for spots in the outside backs as are Hayden McNicol and Garth Miller.”

The first of four games on Saturday is the under-18 game between Warwick and Fassifern at 3pm.

There are four games on the program at Father Ranger Oval.
