Cowboys too good for the Roosters
RUGBY LEAGUE: It isn’t often a winger is rated the best on ground but that happening at Father Ranger Oval yesterday when the Warwick Cowboys beat Valleys 34-28 in A grade.
Winger Brodie Quirk scored one try and was rated the best by coach Craig Mullaly.
Quirk’s kick chase was a great lesson for any young player, he ran as if he was aiming for a qualifying time for the Olympics.
The Cowboys led 22-4 at halftime and 34-10 midway through the second half before Valleys scored the last three tries to reduce the margin.
The final Valleys try came with two minutes to go and after the kick-off, Valleys had 30 seconds to engineer a try and took the ball 40m before a wild pass went loose.
Dan Watson scored two tries on the other wing to Quirk and centre Dion Galloway one try to give the three-quarters four tries.
The other two were scored by replacement forward Trent Richardson, the forward who played Queensland Cup with Redcliffe last season, and looks all class.
In reserve-grade, Warwick won 28-22 with Wesley Murray scored two tries and Mitch McMahon landing four goals.
Warwick beat premiers Valleys 30-16 in U18s and lost 30-16 in second division.
