Cowboys trump Gundy under lights at home

RUGBY LEAGUE: The return of Friday night football in Warwick was a resounding success with the Warwick Cowboys tasting victory in all three grades.

An excited crowd was on hand to cheer the local boys home and did just that, as the A grade side got up 30-12 over Goondiwindi.

Coach Phil Economidis was pleased.

"We were 12 all at half-time, so really it was a really tough first half,” Economidis said.

"But the boys clicked into gear after that, they knew what needed to be done and they did it. It was pleasing to see it all come together and run away with the game, keeping Gundy scoreless in that second half.”

Economidis said there was great potential for the rest of the season.

"That was the first game for a few of those guys, so I'll looking forward to see what happens against Gatton this weekend,” he said.

Also chuffed with coming away with the two points was reserve grade coach Mark Sullivan after his side's 18-16 win.

"Great result, but plenty of room for improvement,” Sullivan said.

In under-18s, a 36-22 win had coach Matt Grew happy.

"It's our first win,” Grew said.

"(We) found some form and clicked as a team, which is really pleasing. They were pumped to play in front of a home crowd and it showed in their attitudes.”

All teams will travel to Gatton this weekend.
