Cowboys welcome all players to club sign-on day

RUGBY LEAGUE: The Warwick Cowboys will start the next season with a sign-on day on Friday, November 3, at 5.30pm at Father Ranger Oval.

A-grade coach Phil Economidis was hoping to attract a large number of players to the sign-on.

"There is enough footy talent around Warwick. We just want to get them on board and encourage some past players to put the boots on again,” he said.

"Experience is invaluable. My aim is to concentrate on the locals and develop local talent.”

There is an opportunity for this year's players to buy this season's jersey at a minimal price as the club will unveil a new playing strip for next year at the sign on.

Economidis is a former NRL Coach of the Year and will coach in Warwick for the first time since moving to the town five years ago.

Matt Grew has been re-appointed under-18 coach after steering the Cowboys to back-to-back grand finals. David O'Leary was re-elected president of the Warwick Cowboys for a third term at this week's annual general meeting.

Economidis said the officials and volunteers had the club in a strong position.

"It will be an exciting time for the club with a new playing strip for all grades,” he said.

"I want to develop the local talent but I am just one of the people in the club. It is all about the players, town and club.”

All prospective players welcome to the sign-on and sausage sizzle on November 3.
