Craftsmen unveil masterpieces
IT WAS a feast of creativity at the Warwick Woodcrafters open day on Saturday as masterpieces flaunting intricate detail and fine craftsmanship were on display.
One member of the Warwick Woodcrafters group, Reg Rickert, showed off his handcrafted jewellery box.
Made from a variety of timbers - English oak, silver ash and red cedar - the box was nothing less than a work of art.
"I made the framework and then fit the drawers and put it all together," Mr Rickert said.
Mr Rickert has been part of the Warwick Woodcrafters group for eight years and started the hobby after a friend suggested he join.
"I've been a farmer all my life and then I left the farm and now I'm a member of the club," he said.
The open day ran from 9am until about 3pm and gave woodworking enthusiasts the chance to browse some of the handiwork by local craftsmen.
