Crash victim improving
A FORMER Warwick woman has come out of a critical condition following the high speed head-on accident which claimed the life of one person outside Aratula on Wednesday.
Kara Abood, who went to St Mary's Primary before moving to the Gold Coast with her family, is believed to have been the driver of the small Toyota hatchback when it collided with an oncoming vehicle.
She sustained serious leg, pelvis and head injuries and it took Queensland Fire and Rescue crews about an hour to cut her from the wreckage.
The 21-year-old remains in the high dependency ward in Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, where her condition has been described as "not critical".
She had an operation yesterday morning, although a hospital spokesman couldn't release any more details other than it wasn't serious. The spokesman also couldn't say when it was likely Miss Abood would be released.
The passenger in the vehicle, a man aged in his twenties, was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital but died a short time later.
Boonah Police are still investigating the cause of the crash, but early investigations have indicated fatigue may have been a factor.
