CareFlight crew say tiger mauling scene was "chaotic"

RACQ CareFlight crew members have described the scene of the tiger mauling at Australia Zoo as "chaotic".

The Sunshine Coast Airport based crew were called to the Beerwah tourist attraction about 2.45pm after experienced tiger handler David Styles was bitten on the shoulder and neck during a show.

Flight paramedic Santosh Broom said it was the first time he and he colleagues had been called to a tiger attack.

"The trainer was doing OK. He was talking to us. He was very anxious," he said.

 

Flight doctor Dr Andy Haggerty said upon arrival they were taken to the tiger enclosure.

"It was an anxious scene. There were people looking after him and comforting him," Dr Haggerty said.
