Crews working to contain fire near Stanthorpe

QUEENSLAND Fire and Emergency Services crews are currently at the scene of a grass fire burning east of Stanthorpe.

Firefighters are working to contain the fire near Sugarloaf Rd at Sugarloaf, which broke out earlier today.

Smoke may affect surrounding areas.

If affected, residents should close windows and doors and those suffering from a respiratory condition should keep their medications close by.

Smoke can decrease visibility, so motorists should drive with caution and to conditions if travelling in the area.

If residents are concerned their property is under threat they are advised to call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
