Cricket carnival attracts 700 players
TWO sixes late in the innings by Kev Poole made sure of a Hulk's XI win in the Condamine Sports Club Australia Day Cricket Carnival in Warwick.
The three-day carnival attracted 700 players from 33 teams.
After winning their semi finals this morning, Hulk's and SBH XI met in the grand final at 1pm at Slade Park in front of the best crowd of the season so far.
Batting first, SBH XI scored 112, Chris Cantwell top scoring with 26. Cantwell's cousin Josh Ryan was the best of the Hulk's XI bowlers with 3-10 off three overs at the end of the innings.
Jamie Saunders could rightly be regarded as the best batsman in Warwick and showed it with a controlled 42 for Hulk's XI.
When he was caught in the outfield to make the score 2-78, Jimmy Olsen joined Kev Poole and the pair ensured an eight-wicket win.
Hulk's XI needed 28 off the final six overs but two sixers into the wind over mid wicket by Poole ensured there was no rush at the end. Poole was unbeaten on 49.
