Rookie Joe Root score maiden century in second test
ENGLAND youngster Joe Root, 22, layed strong foundations for his teammates Matt Prior (38 not out) and Graeme Swann (21 not out) to be build on in the second Test against New Zealand at Headingley overnight.
Root, the first Yorkshireman to score his maiden Test century at the venue, and the 11th youngest England centurion of all time, was dismissed for 104.
England was 7-337 in its first innings.
