Cricket greats to play for eight-year-old Angus

MARYVALE has teamed up in aid of one of its youngest residents, eight-year-old Angus Bowles.

Diagnosed with Pallister-Hall Syndrome, Angus has undergone numerous complications in his short life.

Now with the help of the Maryvale mob, his family hope to raise enough money to travel to America so Angus can receive a life-changing laser surgery.

The Maryvale cricket club plans to bat for the little battler against some of Australia's cricket greats at a fundraising match and dinner next Saturday, May 31.

Titled the Lew Cooper Invitational Match the line-up for the visiting side includes Ryan Broad, Lew Cooper and more

"We all want to help the young fella up the road," one of the event's organisers Dennis Reynolds said.

The cricket match will be followed by a dinner and auction at Maryvale School of Arts on the evening of May 31.

Jeff Thomson, who was rated one of the fastest bowlers of all time, will be present on the night along with retired Australian coach John Buchanan.

Retired Test wicket keeper Ian Healy will be the keynote speaker on the night.

 

Where: Game at the Maryvale Cricket field

Dinner is at the Maryvale School of Arts.

 

When: Match starts Saturday, May 31, 9am.

Dinner begins that evening 7pm.

 

Cost: Dinner is $60 per head.
