Cricket season starts
JUNIOR cricketers keen to follow in the footsteps of their Ashes heroes have the chance tomorrow to sign up at Rose City Shoppingworld.
The sign-on will be the second for the new season which will start between two Ashes series.
Last Friday, the first sign-on at the Warwick West State School Fete attracted significant interest from boys and girls keen to play in the new season.
Fixtures will start after the school holidays with In2Cricket likely to start on a Thursday afternoon in mid-October.
Under-10, U12 and U15 competitions will be played on Saturday mornings with games at three venues, each with two pitches, Glennie Heights State School (U10), Warwick East State School (U12) and Queens Park (U15).
Stephens said the Ashes and the televising of the Big Bash on free-to-air television would boost interest in junior cricket.
Warwick junior cricket officials will be in Rose City Shoppingworld at 12.30-3pm tomorrow outside BiLo for sign ons.
Players unable to sign up this weekend are welcome to call junior cricket official Bryan Stephens on 0409 955 299.
