CRICKET WRAP: Bourke stars for Maryvale
CRICKET: A stellar all-round individual effort from Michael Bourke helped Maryvale claim a five-wicket victory over Wheatvale at Slade Park.
Bourke spearheaded an onslaught from the Maryvale bowlers, as Wheatvale elected to open the batting.
Andrew McConnell proved to be unstoppable with the ball in hand, finishing with figures of 3-15 from his eight overs.
Bourke came into the attack after the openers, and didn't disappoint, claiming figures of 4-11 from just four overs, and picking up a maiden in the process.
Wheatvale looked set for a fairly lean score, before brothers Jim and Jack Breen, batting at 9th and 10th respectively, notched a handy partnership.
Jim finished with 27, whilst Jack top-scored for his side with 29.
Paul Cantwell shrugged off a disappointing innings with the bat to give Wheatvale their best shot of defending their score of 132.
Cantwell produced a superb effort with the ball, producing figures of 2/10 from his eight overs.
Bourke carried over his form with the ball to the crease, top-scoring for the match with 35 runs.
Rob Lindsay chipped in with 29 runs, and Pat Bourke contributed with 26.
Rascals reign
A superb batting effort has seen the Railway Hotel Rascals claim a decisive 97-run victory over the Sovereign Animals on Saturday.
Joe Morris was outstanding in scoring 80 runs, as was Jon Millard, who picked up 58.
Luke Cullen was the best of the bowlers for the Animals, taking three wickets for just 11 runs in his four-over spell.
Tony Munro completed a rare feat for the Animals, opening the batting and seeing out the innings, as he scored an unbeaten 50.
Jamie Holmes finished with two wickets.
Redbacks bite Colts
Five Warwick Hotel Colts batsmen were able to make starts, but none were able to carry on with it, as the Rosewool Redbacks claimed a three-wicket victory on Saturday.
Opener Nick Inmon top scored with 27, and was supported by Sean O'Leary (22) and Morgan Bourke (21).
Andrew Politch was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with an economical 2-6 from his three overs.
Ben Hurrell took batting honours for the day with his knock of 60, whilst Justin Wheeler finished with an unbeaten 41.
